Welcome to Caroline In Balance! I’m Caroline Lucas-wife, mother, and Corporate Controller.
Like many of you, I’ve faced my share of challenges in life. But through it all, I’ve always strived for one thing: balance.
(And for all you Accountants out there- we know how important it is to be in balance!)
My journey started earlier than most. I became a mom at 16 and married my high school sweetheart at 18. Fast forward 20 years, and we’re still happily married with 3 boys, 4 cats, and a gecko. I love being a boy mom, wouldn’t have it any other way. Currently my oldest is in college, my middle is in high school, and my youngest (my baby!) is going off to middle school in a few months.
Professionally, I am a Corporate Controller with an MBA, who manages an accounting team of 18. Managing such a large team is one of the things I love most about my career. As an introvert who found peace in working on reconciliations and keeping the books in order, I never imagined I’d be managing such a large team. But here I am- and it’s become one of the most fulfilling parts of my career.
People often ask how I made it through high school, college, grad school, and starting my career while building a family from such a young age. It wasn’t easy – but I’ve learned so much along the way, why not share it.
